Texas Roadhouse Rolls With Roadhouse Butter (Copycat)

Yields: about 4 dozen

Ingredients
  • 1 Package Active dry yeast
  • 1/2 c. Warm water
  • 2 c. Milk Warmed
  • 3 Tbsp. Butter
  • 1/2 c. Sugar
  • 7-7.5 c. Flour
  • 2 Eggs
  • 2 tsp. Valt
  • 1/2 c. Honey
Instructions
  1. Warm milk and butter in microwave around 45 seconds to warm. (105-110 degrees)
  2. In a stand mixer with the hook attachment, combine yeast, warm water, milk, butter and 1 Tbsp sugar . Let stand until foamy (about 10 minutes).
  3. Add the rest of the sugar, honey, and 3 1/2 c. flour to the yeast mixture. Mix together for two minutes, then add eggs, and salt. Mix well.
  4. Add the rest of the flour a half a cup at a time until the dough begins to separate from the sides of the bowl. Let it rest for 3-5 minutes.
  5. Knead the dough in the bowl for 5 minutes. Add flour a tablespoon at a time if the dough seems sticky.
  6. Place dough in the greased bowl and turn to grease all sides. Cover loosely with plastic wrap and allow the dough to double in size (about 45 minutes to 2 hours). Once the dough has doubled, punch down and place on floured surface.
  7. Roll the dough out to about a 1/2 inch thick rectangle. Then fold the dough in half, now making it an inch thick, and roll over with a rolling pin to seal it together. Cut the dough into 2-inch squares using a dough scraper or knife.
  8. Place the squares spread out on a greased baking sheet and cover lightly with plastic wrap. Allow the dough to double in size again (about 1 hour).
Baking Instruction
  1. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes, or until golden brown. Immediately rub the tops with a little bit of butter for that fabulous shine. Enjoy!

This is a great recipe!  Although it does take time for the yeast to do its job, this is an easy recipe to make.  What makes it even easier is using a KitchenAid stand mixer.  It’s such a versatile tool in the kitchen.  In this recipe, I used it for kneading the dough and whipping the butter.  If you want more information on the stand mixer, click on the blue link.  It will take you to an article we wrote on this great appliance.  Check out some of our other recipes and you’ll see we use it a lot.  Literally… every kitchen should have one.
